ARFA Solutions, LLC is seeking an Observability Engineer with a strong background in monitoring, logging, and tracing to join our team. As an Observability Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining an effective observability strategy and toolset, focused on Continuous Visibility and Stability (CVS) for our systems. You will work closely with our development and operations teams to ensure that our applications and infrastructure are monitored, logged, and traced effectively to detect and resolve issues quickly.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement an observability strategy for our systems, ensuring comprehensive monitoring, logging, and tracing.
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop meaningful dashboards and reports.
  • Configure monitoring tools and services to collect, analyze, and visualize data, providing real-time insights into system performance and availability.
  • Develop and maintain effective logging practices, ensuring that logs are captured, stored, and easily accessible for troubleshooting and analysis.
  • Implement distributed tracing solutions to trace requests across microservices, identifying bottlenecks and optimizing performance.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and best practices in observability and continuously enhance our observability toolset.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve incidents, leveraging observability data to identify root causes.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in IT operations, system administration, or engineering, focused on observability
  • Management experience on AppDynamics CSaaS platform and related tools (experience managing Tivoli, Omnibus, Ops Bridge Manager, DynaTrace monitoring platforms and Splunk, ELK stack for log management a plus)
  • Experience with distributed tracing frameworks like Jaeger, Zipkin, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation using languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Ability to create and interpret dashboards, reports, and logs to identify system performance issues and bottlenecks.
  • Experience working with automation concepts and tools to develop configuration, deployment, and orchestration workflows (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins, TerraForm, python, etc.)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies and orchestration platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and its impact on observability.
  • Familiarity with chaos engineering principles and tools.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
